100 Points Vinous

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Georgia is magnificent. In fact, it is one of the absolute finest editions of this wine I have ever tasted. Soaring aromatics meld into lemon confit, sage, mint and white pepper, all beautifully lifted in the glass. A dollop of Sauvignon Musqué in the blend adds a gorgeous exotic flair. The clean, saline finish is a thing of beauty. Unforgettable.

97 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

One of the top-rated Napa Valley examples of this variety, Lail's 2023 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc raises the bar for what is a perennial beacon of quality. Complex accents of crushed stone, struck match and pencil shavings join fig and melon notes on the nose, while the medium- to full-bodied palate is silky-textured, ripe and rich without being weighty. Cap that off with a long, mouthwatering finish and the result is a wine of enduring deliciousness. The vineyard was originally planted by George Yount in 1839, but the current dry-farmed vines "only" go back to 1988. Planted to Merlot then, it was grafted over to Sauvignon Blanc.

96 Points James Suckling

A lovely wine that reflects the vintage, showing precision, taut freshness and a mineral core. The palate is tightly wound, with long acidity and a persistent, citrus-driven finish. A fine interpretation of 100% sauvignon blanc, fermented in 60% new French oak. Drink or hold.

94 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Coming all from the Totem Estate Vineyard in Yountville and aged 20 months on lees in barrel, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Georgia is deeper and richer, with ripe citrus, white fig, mint, flowers, and a touch of wood spice. It's medium-bodied on the palate and has a concentrated, layered mid-palate and vibrant acidity. Drink this serious, age-worthy Sauvignon Blanc over the coming decade. Drink 2025-2035.

Winemaker Notes

Medium Straw in color, the 2023 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc is intense and spirited, bursting forth with stone fruit, tangerine, and honeysuckle aromas. The flavors include pineapple, mango, Meyer lemon and mint. This is the classic minerality and toasted brioche, with white truffle and coconut intertwined, snapped together by the signature acidity and energy of the Totem Vineyard. One hundred percent Sauvignon Blanc, it screams of the wonderful growing season that was vintage 2023.
