95 Points Wine Spectator
A plump and precise white, with much to admire in its juicy and mouthwatering mix of fresh white nectarine, crunchy star fruit and lemon sorbet flavors. Details of crunchy sea salt, honeysuckle, wildflower honey and candied ginger are matched by vibrant acidity, which keeps all of the flavors fresh and in focus, with extra torque on the finish. Drink now through 2036. 98 cases made.
93 Points James Suckling
Aromas of citrus blossoms, fresh tropical fruit, oak spices, minerals and stone fruit. The palate is quite flamboyant, with bright acidity and a slightly cloying, textured finish. Made from 75% sauvignon blanc and 25% semillon and crafted in a chardonnay-like style. Drink or hold.
Winemaker Note:
The 2024 vintage of Les Leçons de Maîtres is a luminous expression of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon in seamless harmony. Pale citrus-yellow in the glass, it opens with an alluring bouquet of lemon blossom, jasmine, and delicate white florals reminiscent of honeysuckle. On the palate, layers of ripe nectarine, clementine, and yellow apple unfold, energized by a vibrant, lifted acidity that adds precision and drive. Subtle accents of ginger and salted green mango weave through the mid-palate, complementing a graceful richness that offers both texture and clarity. This wine is a study in balance and contrast —at once mouthwatering and generous, lush yet linear. Crafted for longevity, it promises to evolve beautifully over the coming decades.
About Shared Notes:
Shared Notes is the winemaking joint-venture between wife and husband, Bibiana González Rave and Jeff Pisoni. Both had early desires of making wine, and spent most of their lives doing so. The year 2012, however, marked the first vintage that they produced together. Previously, during the grape harvest, Bibiana and Jeff were like the proverbial ships passing in the night. Early grape picks and late nights at the winery left them rarely crossing paths.
Now, Bibiana and Jeff do cross paths—to discuss ideas and taste samples. You can sometimes catch them in front of a grapevine, the press, a fermenting tank, or a barrel...most likely with a glass in hand.
