95 Points Wine Enthusiast
Sweet, rich orange marmalade flavors, maybe not as imposingly powerful as Guiraud can be, but still with a great inner tension between sweetness and dry botrytis, precede a delicious addition of lemon zest and a final burst of sweetness balanced with acidity.

The Guiraud 2006 has a floral bouquet with a peppermint-like freshness and vitality – so much that you might think it originates from the New World (not meant pejoratively). The palate is viscous and very well-balanced on the entry with prudently judged acidity cutting through intense mango, marmalade and apricot flavours. There is a superb sense of weight and presence to this Sauternes that should be considered a great success.

This is now my third attempt at tasting the 2006 Chateau Guiraud which is a really good wine to enjoy now and seems to be slightly slowing down. Ripe baking spices and pineapple fill the nose with suggestions of dried mango. The palate is medium bodied and shows light tension and flinty tones that mingle with the tropical fruit flavors. A limited amount of Botrytis greets you, as this is best enjoyed now.
