97 Points Wine Enthusiast
Mouthwatering aromas of raspberry jam and cherry compote perfume this powerful but pure-fruited Grenache (topped up with 1% each of Cinsault and Clairette). Sourced from vines aged 60 to 70 years and 50% destemmed, it's a mouthdrenching, pulsating sip braced by finely edged tannins. Irresistible already but should gain complexity and depth through 2030 and hold further.

A blend of 98% Grenache and 1% each of Cinsault and Clairette, brought up in demi-muids and foudre, the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape A La Gloire De Mon Grand-Pere has a rocking, medium to full-bodied, layered style as well as notes of kirsch, dried earth, ground pepper, and garrigue. This is another sexy, seamless, layered wine from this estate that's going to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and shine for a decade.
94 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Because of its rich tannic structure, I expect the 2017 Châteauneuf du Pape A la Gloire de Mon Grand-Père to be among the longer-lived wines from this estate. It's loaded with concentrated notes of plums, raspberries and cherries, all delivered on a full-bodied, velvety palate and ending with chewy tannins and salted licorice.
94 Points Vinous
Deep vivid garnet. Intensely perfumed, spice-accented aromas of rips red berries, incense, potpourri, and garrigue show sharp definition and mineral lift. Weighty yet impressively lively on the palate, offering powerful raspberry and cherry preserve, floral pastille and cola flavors and building spiciness. Finishes extremely long, with harmonious tannins adding shape to a wonderfully long spice-and-floral driven finish.
