Region: Barolo, Italy
Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo
95 Points Wine Advocate
The 2019 Barolo Monfalletto (made with organic fruit selection from across the vineyards that surround the winery in La Morra) shows grit, density and rich texture. The house style prizes muscle and brawn in this vintage that lends itself handily to these qualities. Pressed cherry and blackberry cede to licorice, cured tobacco and iron ore.
94 Points Wine Spectator
A plump, cherry, raspberry and tar-flavored red, showing accents of mineral, tobacco and eucalyptus, with a swath of solid tannins guarding the finish. Balanced and long.
Winemaker Notes
The Cordero di Montezemolo’s Monfalletto Barolo is one of our best-selling Barolos—ever—and the 2019 is the most impressive edition we’ve tasted. It boasts 95-point praise from Wine Advocate, who noted its “muscle and brawn,” coming from a vintage that put a spotlight on those qualities. Selected from the estate’s prime plots, the Monfalletto provides a perfectly polished snapshot of the family’s exquisite estate.
