94 Points James Suckling
Aromas of mangoes, green pears, papaya and seaweed. A plush, mouthwatering, full-bodied wine with bright, juicy acidity and just a hint of sweetness. Versatile and pleasurable.
93 Points Tasting Panel
Aged sur lie for six months in (15% new) French oak, this is a fleshy, succulent expression of its variety. Following self-possessed aromas of grapefruit blossom and pear subtly flecked with slivered almond and fresh-cut grass, it positively springs to life on the palate, where ripe apricot, mango, and star fruit plus a dash of white pepper show staying power.
92 Points Vinous
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc (Russian River Valley) is a very pretty wine. Apricot, peach, slate, white flowers and chalk open first, followed by tropical overtones that add an exotic touch. The warmer style of the year exalts forward fruit while pushing varietal character into the background just a touch.
Winemaker Note
Our Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc has become a popular success because of the unique way it is made. Winemaker Heidi von der Mehden uses a blend of Shenandoah and Sauvignon Musqué clones of Sauvignon Blanc to achieve the perfect blend of flavors and aromatics. She employs barrel fermentation in French oak and lees-stirring regimes for creamy texture. In 2024, the result is a luscious wine with tropical floral aromas, and notes of sweet grapefruit, orange blossoms, and honeydew melon. The entry is juicy, and it’s refreshing on the palate. Touches of citrus, vanilla, and fresh cut apples linger on the finish.
