Blend: 50% merlot, 35% cabernet sauvignon and 15% syrah
96 Points James Suckling
Fresh and floral with black cherry and lavender aromas that follow through to a medium body with well integrated tannins, that spread beautifully across the palate. Turns silky and beautiful. Hints of smoke and spice at the end. Crunchy at the end. Drinkable but even better in three to four years.
94 Points Wine Enthiusiast
Morello cherries and blackberries roll in dirt and wild herbs on the nose, and then stretch their legs on the palate over aromas of vanilla, dark chocolate and espresso. Lively acid and penetrative heat accents the earthy salinity that Il Borro uniquely expresses. Exuberant but sophisticated, worth holding on to until 2029 at least.
Winemaker Notes
Overall intense and concentrated with aromas of cherry, green olive, chocolate, cedar, leather, and tobacco. Mouthfeel is consistent & well-integrated with soft tannins. Pair with short rib pappardelle or roasted boar with Tuscan sauce.
