95 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
From a site adjacent to Beckstoffer’s Georges III, Heitz’s 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Trailside Vineyard is a strong effort, boasting ample cedar, ripe cherries, gentle herbal complexities (think bay leaf and sage) and a delicate dusty-earth character. It’s medium- to full-bodied and silky in texture, with a long finish lined by fine-grained tannins wrapped around a core of crisp acidity.
93 Points Wine Spectator
A steady Eddie Cabernet, offering cassis and black cherry puree inlaid with an iron spine and caressed by a gently singed apple wood note. The iron element echoes prettily through the focused finish.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast
Cracked pine, bay laurel, and dusty earth lift from the glass and swirl through flavors of black raspberry and chocolate sprinkled with sea salt. Spindly, firm tannins persist into a long finish.
Winemaker Notes
Trailside consistently displays vibrant notes of rustic red fruit, rosemary, sage, and thyme, which are all supported by mouthwatering tannins and a soft, elegant finish. Aged for three years in our cellar followed by one year in the bottle, this wine was created with your immediate enjoyment in mind and will continually evolve over the next 20+ years.
