ETA: Mid-November 2025
94 Points Decanter
This wine consistently makes a compelling case for one of the best under $50 Oregon Pinot Noirs ($38), sourced from three estate sites: Justice, Lewman, and the Bethel Heights estate. Winemaker Ben Casteel believes that the entry-point wine is often the most reflection of an estate’s quality, and therefore takes the assemblage of their wine as seriously as any of the others he produces.
93 Points James Suckling
Aromas of dark cherries, plums, forest floor and spices. The palate is firm and structured, with savory tannins and focused dark fruit. Earthy and balanced, with a dry finish. Drink or hold.
93 Points Wine Enthusiast
This pitch-perfect expression of grape, vineyard and AVA opens with silky raspberry fruit. It's packed deep into a focused, evocative wine with excellent aging potential. Light highlights of cinnamon, chili powder and green tea with a whiff of earthy compost contribute depth, texture and complexity.
92 Points Vinous
The 2023 Pinot Noir Estate opens with a vibrant blend of crushed cherries and blackberries, elevated by sweet herbal tones and a nuance of spice. Juicy acidity enlivens depths of crisp wild berry fruit and mineral notes. The finish is pleasantly grippy, tapering off chewy and long with a tinge of licorice that lingers.
Winemaker Notes
: Our Pinot Noir Estate is always the best place to start when evaluating our growing season and winemaking intent in any given vintage. It incorporates nearly all sections of our three estate vineyards in various amounts, and as such provides an honest evaluation of the year. The 2023 Estate Pinot Noir reflects the multifaceted nature of the vintage: a cool beginning that was encouraged along by the warmest May on record and better than ideal weather during harvest. Blending the Estate is often our most difficult task because it is our largest bottling each vintage, and thus spans nearly 175 barrels. We approach this wine like we do our others, with the singular goal to make the best, most transparent wine we can.
