Just bottled but certainly not showing any worse for it the 2023 Hermitage Blanc offers up gorgeous aromatics of quince honeyed white flowers and blanched almond on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied round incredibly pure and seamless on the palate with a supple vibrant texture and a gorgeous finish. This is an absolute lights-out Hermitage Blanc that I wish every reader could taste. I love it even today yet it's going to cruise in cold cellars for at least two decades. Drink 2026-2046.

The 2023 L'Hermitage Blanc shines with immaculate balance and harmony smoothing over the summer heatwave of the growing season without any hint of flamboyance. Instead it delivers outstanding freshness and verve with pronounced notes of honeysuckle fresh pear yellow apple wet stone and delicate chamomile. Broad-shouldered concentrated and sapid the 2023 is such a gorgeous and masterfully assembled white L'Hermitage.
Tasting Notes
Jean-Louis Chave’s Hermitage Blanc isn’t just a white Rhône—it’s the white Rhône. A blend of mostly old-vine Marsanne, with a touch of Roussanne, drawn from legendary parcels like Péléat, Rocoules, and Maison Blanche, this wine is about depth, texture, and time.
The 2022 vintage offers everything you'd want: notes of honeysuckle, quince, roasted nuts, citrus oil, and stone, wrapped in a dense yet lifted frame. It’s opulent without heaviness, structured without sharpness—a wine that can age for decades, but already shows flashes of its brilliance now.
Pair it with lobster, truffle chicken, or aged cheeses—or cellar it and let it evolve into something truly transcendent. This is Chave, and it doesn’t get more iconic than that.
