Marked by a cool spring, dry summer and a beautiful fall, 2018 was an excellent growing season in the Dundee Hills. Following a warm and mild winter, bud break was delayed by slightly cooler temperatures in late spring. Summer daytime temperatures hovered in the low-to mid-90s with very few heat spikes, which allowed for excellent ripening while retaining freshness and vibrancy as temperatures cooled down in the evenings. This warm, balanced season encouraged the vines to focus their energy on steadily ripening the crop, and the fruit developed impressive aromatic and flavor complexity. There was little rainfall at harvest, which allowed for careful and deliberate picking decisions at a slightly more relaxed pace. This focus and patience during a more forgiving harvest season shows through in the resulting wine, which is quite balanced and precise with the hallmark structure and refined tannins we have come to love and expect from the Dundee Hills.
