The 2023 Barbera D'Asti Superiore Ca' Di Pian pours an opaque red/magenta hue and is sourced from a blend of 18 vineyards across three zones. Aromatically, it™s ripe and seductive, with preserved blackberries, candied violets, blue fruit, sweet herbs, and mocha. Medium to full-bodied, it offers vibrant acidity with supple, silky tannins and a generous finish. This overdelivers for the price. 70,000 bottles were produced. Drink 2026-2032

The 2023 Barbera d'Asti Ca' di Pian is soft, supple and delicious. A burst of blueberry, black cherry, spice, lavender, menthol and chocolate gives the 2023 tons of immediacy and sheer appeal. This is an especially fine edition of La Spinetta's entry-level Barbera. Best of all, this is a terrific value.
Winemaker Notes
Though the Barbera grape from Asti usually tends to be crisper and sharper (when compared to the Barbera grape from Alba), the Ca' di Pian exudes a rich concentration and relatively tame acidity, thanks to 45-year-old vines and low vineyard yields....the wine is ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet has beautiful and complex aromas of ripe blueberry, rosehip and nectarine. The palate is mineral with chewy, with flavors of small red berries and black cherries accented by balsamic and earth notes.
