Region: Barolo, Italy
Varietal: 100% Nebbiolo
95 Points James Suckling
Restrained, complex and spicy, showing licorice, dried roses, wild strawberries, vibrant orange peel and savory, almost meaty depth. Medium- to full-bodied, offering firm, dusty yet ripe tannins and an integrated, refreshing and long finish.
92 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Always a versatile wine, the Damilano 2022 Barolo Lecinquevigne is an easy, straight-shooting expression that leans into classic Nebbiolo aromas of dried cherry, spice and rose hip. The tannins are silky and yielding, leading to a medium-bodied, accessible finish. A blend of fruit from five MGAs (Brunate, Liste, Cerequio, Cannubi and Raviole), the wine offers a broad snapshot of the appellation while remaining true to a traditional style shaped by aging in large oak casks. Some 90,000 well-priced bottles were produced.
Winemaker Notes
Ruby red in color with orange reflections. An intense bouquet, with tertiary notes of rose, leather, tobacco and emerging notes of violet and tar. The palate is ample and embracing, with prevailing impressions of a soft, persistent, long finish. Lecinquevigne is perfect for braised meat , game, mushrooms and aged cheeses.
