Blend: 68% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon
93 Points Jeb Dunnuck
The second wine of Château Lascombes, the 2022 Chevalier de Lascombes is beautifully textured and medium-bodied, offering bright cassis and darker, almost blue fruits, alongside spicy floral nuances. It has an elegant mouthfeel and a great finish. Aged in oak barrels, this should evolve well for 10-15 years.
93 Points Wine Review Online
The engaging Chevalier de Lascombes captivates with its suave texture, emblematic of wines from Margaux. Its approachability and richness likely reflect the unusually high—for the Médoc—amount (68 percent) of Merlot in the blend. It delivers more complexity and refinement than most “second wines". A delight to drink now, this is a great second wine.
90 Points Decanter
A ripe and concentrated nose with hints of sweetness to the black and red berry fruit. Smooth and silky, this is friendly and approachable with chalky-edged, cool blue fruit, fine but grippy tannins and minty, mineral and oak-spiced undercurrents. Feels really well made, purposeful and nicely detailed, while being easy to approach and enjoy right away.
90 Points Vinous
The 2022 Chevalier de Lascombes is a very pleasant second wine, one that is not trying to be too much. Ripe red cherry fruit, blood orange, spice, menthol and a touch of spice all build nicely in this gentle, open-knit Margaux. This is very good for what it is. (Drink between 2024-2032)
Winemaker Notes
Chevalier de Lascombes is the second wine from the Grand Cru Classe Chateau Lascombes in Margaux, which has established itself as the estate’s “other” wine with its own unique personality. Developed with the same care and attention taken to make the first wine, Chevalier de Lascombes comes from selected parcels that are distinct from those used in the elaboration of the first one. The blend consists of Merlot (68%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (32%). The Chevalier de Lascombes 2022 presents all the typicity of a great Margaux with a harmony between smoothness and refinement, which makes this wine perfectly consumable during its first ten years.
