93 Points Wine Enthusiast

Fragrant and loaded with finesse, this has aromas of red berry, iris, leather and forest floor. The youthfully austere palate offers sour cherry, cranberry and licorice alongside taut, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity keeps it vibrant and balanced. Best 2027–2034.

93 Points Wine Spectator

A lightly sinewy red, with macerated cherry and raspberry fruit accented by rose hip and thyme. Remains vibrant on the chalky finish, where tannins lend support and the red fruit and floral flavors fade gracefully. Best from 2025 through 2043.

Winemaker Notes

Prunotto’s Barolo is garnet red in color. The nose is complex and generous with pleasing aromas of rose petals, red fruit and spicy notes. The palate is full, well-balanced with velvety tannins.

The winery is named for Alfredo Prunotto who bought a struggling Piedmont cooperative winery in 1923 and made it his own. Under his leadership, Prunotto wines established an excellent reputation for quality and were among the very first in Piedmont to be exported abroad. Although Alfredo sold the winery upon his retirement in 1956, his legacy continues today with the Antinori family. The Antinoris have moved the winery forward by investing in vineyards, equipment, and varietal analysis, carrying on Alfredo’s legacy and making Prunotto the success that it is today.
