The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Social Currency is rich and voluptuous, with no hard edges and plenty of immediacy. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, licorice, cloves, leather and chocolate abound. In this tasting, the Social Currency offers a bit less complexity than the other wines in the range, while the alcohol is a bit pronounced. I liked this more from barrel. Social Currency was initially offered in magnums, but there is now a small production of standard 750ml bottles as well.
Winemaker Note
Displays a totally sensuous range of aromas ñ dense black cherry, chocolate, stone and licorice. On the palate this is powerful and incredibly flavorful with an exquisitely framed, lusciously-textured core. Delicious, powerful, rich, detailed and multi-layered this stays true to Social Currencyís sophisticated hedonism. Incredible depth, persistence and balance with silken tannin structure. This is a wine for cellaring will even more exceptional with cellaring ñ but that will be a challenge given how delicious it is young.
