The 2015 Champagne Vintage Rosé is medium pink with jeweled ruby/orange highlights and was aged for at least six years before disgorgement. It’s fruity but carries more spice and intensity, with a pithy structure and a full-bodied palate of rich strawberry preserve and rhubarb jelly. Ten percent of the blend was vinified and aged in oak, adding extra richness and fleshiness to the texture. Well-balanced and ripe without being cloying, it has savory saffron spice, 8 grams per liter dosage, and 13% red wine in the blend. It has the ability to age for another 15 years and can stand up beautifully to hard cheeses like Parmesan, charcuterie, or duck. Aromatically, it’s a bit shy today, but the palate has a lovely fruitiness balanced with spice.
Winemaker Note
The predominance of Pinot Noir (50%), produced exclusively from grapes selected from the Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages, provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot. Chardonnay (30%) brings the elegance and finesse of a perfectly balanced wine, while a small percentage of Pinot Meunier (20%) rounds out the blend.
Vintage Rosé 2015 surprises us with its complex nose and energetic character on the palate. Notes of orange blossom, yuzu and mandarin bring freshness, accompanied by mouthwatering aromas of cherry, aniseed and Vienna bread.
