Our scintillating Napa Valley Meritage again relies on a backbone of power and finesse from Cabernet Sauvignon (42%) sourced from cooler-climate Coombsville for bright acidity and warmer-climate Pope Valley which contributes firm tannins. A dose of Coombsville Merlot (25%) contributes a suppleness to the blend and a dollop (33%) of savory Sangiovese enhances The Secret’s drinkability.
The Secret's lush, enveloping nose entices with a harmonious blend of Bing cherries, cranberries, and allspice, overlaid with notes of well-aged leather which teases the cabernet sauvignon in the blend. The elegance of this year’s blend is showcased in a Bordeaux-inspired mid-palate that utilizes classic Cabernet and Merlot fruit as a foundation for the bright aromatic notes of rich, ripe Sangiovese. Deep red fruits, fresh plums, and rhubarb, mingle with notes of pipe tobacco and pencil shavings, leading to a long, juicy finish layered with ripe strawberry and anise, ending with hints of cinnamon and brown sugar. The unique blend reflects the quality of the Napa Valley fruit and the skill of our winemaker, and will pair perfectly with grilled foods, and a wide variety of cheeses and hearty appetizers.
