96 Points James Suckling

A pale gold, clear and luminous, like the rising sun. Delicate aromas of fruit – vine peach and poached pear – and linden and hawthorn blossom. Notes of juicy vine peach lend a fine texture, complemented by poached pear and tangy rhubarb. A combination of freshness, balance and tension. A rare and harmonious champagne.

94 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Made from 50% Chardonnay, with 45% Pinot Noir and the rest Meunier, and 8 grams per liter of dosage, the 2014 Champagne Belle Epoque Brut pours a brilliant straw hue and is fresh with aromas of white peach, a touch of fresh pineapple, and fresh tropical flowers. Medium to full-bodied, it has a more expansive feel on the palate, with more structure and a lively mousse that lends a touch of white pepper on the finish. The palate at this stage is ripe, with pure notes peach fruit, and it’s very fresh in its style.

93+ Points Wine Advocate

The 2014 Brut Belle Epoque is turning out well today, evoking aromas of white peach, pear, spring flowers, almonds flowers and lemon oil. Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it’s fresh and charming with a delicately tense mid-palate and a saline, mineral finish. Long and penetrating, this is an excellent rendition of this cuvée.

Winemaker Notes

While every vintage of Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque naturally expresses the characteristics of its particular year, the personality of this iconic cuvee is clearly defined: delicacy, harmony and elegance combine to captivate the senses, with its bright gold color and subtle sparkle an inviting prelude to rich nuances of white flowers and white-fleshed fruit, rounded out by delicious notes of honey. A long, expansive finish testifies to the rare quality of this exceptional champagne. Always a light, ethereal style of wine, this is also very fresh and still young. It will age with its taut minerality from the Chardonnay in the blend. A softer background will become toasty over the next few years.
