Sliced apples, wildflower honey, jasmine and sliced almonds on the nose, followed by a creamy palate with soft bubbles. Pretty honey flavors combined with fresh acidity and chalky minerality come through at the end. 50% chardonnay, 45% pinot noir and 5% meunier. 8 g/L dosage. Drink now or hold.

The 2016 edition of Belle Epoque is a typically pretty, approachable wine, showing the compact freshness of the year. Peach, blossom and apple macaron flavours meet a little toasted hazelnut complexity, while the palate is smooth with its sweet citrus Chardonnay energy. With a soft, delicate mousse it is already showing well, although there will be more interest on offer with two to three years further ageing.

Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque is the original Belle Epoque vintage cuvée, first appearing in 1964. Instantly recognisable throughout the world, its bottle is adorned with the graceful spray of Japanese white anemones created for Maison Perrier-Jouët by Art Nouveau master Emile Gallé in 1902.
