96 Points Jeb Dunnuck
The 2023 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard is lifted and aromatic with notes of pine needles, wild raspberries, mint, and crushed stones. Medium-bodied and seamless, it balances red and black fruit with fine tannins and a graceful texture. Black raspberries, grenadine, and fresh flowers carry through the long finish.
93 Points Wine Spectator
Precise and steely in structure, with expressive flavors of cherry and tart blueberry highlighted by forest floor, black tea and mineral tones as this gathers tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2033.
Winemaker Note
Savory, floral and spice focused— Complex layers of passionfruit, cherry and raspberry are surrounded by honeysuckle and woody notes of cedar and sandalwood. Immediately rewarding on the palate with a juicy and persistent finish.
2023 was a banner year for us. We had very good crop levels, plenty of heat to ripen properly and had a long season with extended hang time. The weather was very mild avoiding extremes of cold or heat. There were no frost scares at the start of the season and only two days at 100 degrees in the entire growing season. All great wine is about balance. This year the beautiful array of aromatics, plush texture and the frame of acidity are seriously compelling.
