Coming from a cooler portion of the valley, just north of the town of Napa, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, and 1% Malbec aged 18 months in 40% new French oak and 60% used French oak barrels. It has a vivid purple hue as well as crème de cassis, red plum, graphite, chalky mineral, and rose and floral nuances. It's medium to full-bodied, has a nicely concentrated, structured, tannic mouthfeel, solid mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's impeccably made and can compete with wines twice its price. Drink 2025-2040.
Winemaker Notes
This richly aromatic wine dances with aromas of black currant, cherry, and plums. It is delicately highlighted with notes of caramel, cocoa power and hints of sage and vanilla. Sumptuous and silky. Rich with cherry fruit at the palate entry followed by a sultry, silky mid-palate. The acidity is bright and the finish is long and smooth.
