Winemaker Notes
The Selbach Incline was produced by Johannes Selbach to simply outshine all Mosel Rieslings at, or near, its price point. The name Incline was chosen to honor the impossibly steep sloped terroir of the Mosel from which these grapes are grown.
Vinified in stainless steel, with just a hint of residual sugar, this wine vividly represents all that Mosel wine should be – Fruity with vibrant acidity, clarity, and precision; all highlighted by intense slate-driven minerality.
The Selbach family vineyard is part of "the golden mile," a strip of vineyards in Germany's Mosel River Valley that's been continually farmed since the Roman Empire. Continuing a long tradition of producing top quality wine, Johann Selbach took over the famous Selbach-Oster estate from his father in 1993. A rockstar winemaker with an eye towards minimalism, Johann will be the first to tell you that German Riesling is too complicated.
With that in mind, he created Incline; a second label of his family's famous Rieslings which offer a simpler approach without sacrificing a bit of quality. The grapes come from small parcels of land farmed under his close supervision and are quite possibly and are a great introduction to the world of Mosel Riesling.
