Few wine enthusiasts probably realize that with every sip of Riesling from Schloss Johannisberg, they are enjoying the legacy of nearly 1,200 years of history that involves a monastery and a palace – both of which have a great wine history. The first documented wine harvest was in A.D. 817, making Schloss Johannisberg the first Riesling wine estate in the Mosel and in the world.
Winemaker Notes
On the nose, intense aromas of ripe Mirabelle plum and grapefruit zest unfold, combined with the scent of white blossoms and a hint of herbs. On the palate, it is lively and precise, featuring cool peach notes and tropical fruit flavors such as juicy pineapple. Fresh, well-integrated acidity lends the wine tension, while a subtle fruit sweetness ensures balance. Notes of grapefruit reappear on the finish, creating an elegant conclusion that makes the wine exceptionally drinkable.
