Varietals: 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Malbec
94 Points The Wine Independent
Medium garnet-purple in color...needs a little coaxing to reveal notes of cast-iron pan, crushed rocks, and dusty soil over a core of red plums, blackberry preserves, and mulberries, plus a hint of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, palate is tightly knit with fine-grained tannins and bold freshness supporting the nuanced black and red fruits, finishing long and minerally.
91 Points Decanter
A touch of reduction on the nose which clears as it relaxes in the glass. This is well put together, has definition and finesse, and is punching above its weight in the appellation. Ambitious, well managed tannins and juicy red fruits; 2% Malbec completes the plantings.
90 Points Vinous
The 2020 Marjosse is a deep, flavorful wine. Black cherry, leather, spice, tobacco, and grilled herbs give this hearty Bordeaux a good deal of savory and earthy character to match its midweight personality.
Food Pairings
Ideal with classic French dishes such as roast lamb, beef stew, or duck confit. It also pairs well with veal, pork, chicken, rich fish, mushrooms, hearty pasta, and even some Asian cuisine.
Try with hard cheeses and charcuterie, making it versatile for a variety of dining occasions.
