95+ Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Opening to a luminous garnet color, the Paitin 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella Sorì Paitin is delicate and fresh, but the wine is not without its inner power and consistency. It plays its cards carefully, thanks to a slow-moving bouquet characterized by redcurrant and tart cherry. It gains power on the palate with polished tannins and tight structure. Give this bottle a few more years to unwind. Best After 2025.

94 Points Vinous

The 2019 Barbaresco Sorì Paitin captures all the energy of this site. Tense, nervy and in need of cellaring, the 2019 is not an easy wine to taste today, but its drive and intensely mineral personality are impossible to miss. Time in the glass brings out its presence and overall stature. There's a ton to look forward to, that much is pretty clear.

94 Points Wine Spectator

This red has a mineral streak running through it, with a distinctive graphite note permeating the cherry and raspberry core, plus earth, tobacco and menthol accents that add depth. Plays out on the finish with a taut, linear profile.

94+ Points Jeb Dunnuck

Taking on a bit more depth and complexity, the 2019 Barbaresco Serraboella Sori Paitin offers up notes of anise, clove, orange zest, and raspberry compote. Maintaining a stylistic medium frame, it has a more apparent and notable structure, with ripe tannins and a bit of a grounded feel, with the rich mineral texture of crushed stones. It is a bit reserved at the moment and may very well develop beyond its current rating given time. I would recommend another couple of years in bottle and drinking over the following 15 years. Best After 2025.

Winemaker Notes

The Sorì Paitin has belonged to the Pasquero-Elia heirs since 1796. It is Serraboella's warmest slope, graced with unique soils that has planted with Nebbiolo for ages. Sorì means the first place where the snow melts with the first winter sun rays. Ancient rule to select the best plots for Nebbiolo. Serraboella is the most famous cru in the Southern Neive. A long hill exposed to West that gently bends towards South getting steeper. On this very side: the steepest and the warmest, the Barbaresco has a unique expression: power and volume are laced by a elegant texture.
