#18 Best-Selling Wine at The Vintage Wine Shoppe
Blend: 80% Chenin Blanc, 20% Viognier
91 Points James Suckling
A charming, floral, light-bodied white in a lightweight bottle. It bursts with green apple, white peach and lemon blossom flavors on a low-alcohol body. A trace of residual sugar softens the edges. All tank-fermented with no malolactic.
Winemaker Notes:
The Chenin Blanc + Viognier opens with kiwi, Meyer lemon, and fresh cut melon on the nose. The nose is accented by honeysuckle and lemon verbena creating a nice floral note throughout the aroma. Notes of peach ring, apricot, green apple, and mandarin add vibrant fruit complexity. The palate is zippy and refreshing, with a plush entry from the Viognier and a clean line of granite driven minerality. A hint of black pepper lifts the finish, which is harmonious, energetic, and endlessly drinkable. This versatile wine pairs well with a number of dishes, from light salads to seafood, and most notably with foods with a hint of spiciness—its subtle sweetness provides balance alongside a touch of heat. It’s the perfect pour for the start of an evening with appetizers such as goat cheese, radishes, and olives. Also try with a flavorful Thai curry, a frittata with sweet onions and ricotta, or a shrimp and avocado tostada.
