Rich aromas of black currant and blackberry are leveled by peppercorn, rosemary and charred meat on the nose of this estate bottling. That savory side of grilled meat and smoldering charcoal comes through on the sip as well, with dark berry, charcuterie and peppercorn flavors also making a showing.

Winemaker Notes

Blueberries, blackberries, and baking spices erupt from the glass of our 2018 Estate Syrah. The palate is soft and rich, creating the mouth-coating texture that makes Syrah from the west side of Paso Robles so popular. The mid-palate features layers of currant, boysenberry, and a hint of caramel. Soft, light tannins make this wine ready to drink now but complex enough to cellar for the next 15 years!

Destemmed and fermented in closed top fermentors, with delestage daily for the first few days of fermentation followed by open pump-overs two to three times daily for an average of 12 days.

Halter Ranch is located in Paso Robles on California’s Central Coast. It is protected from the ocean by the Santa Lucia Mountain Range. Halter Ranch has a rich history combined with a commitment to quality, science-driven sustainable methods, and environmental stewardship.
