A combination of elegance and power, this intensifies across the palate, ending in a resounding cascade of dark berry fruit, mineral and spice notes. The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges "Les Chênes Carteaux ler Cru was cropped at just 20hL/ha as it suffered during the canicule on its free-draining soils. It is aged in 15% new oak. The nose has good vigor with redcurrant, raspberry, sous-bois and a light marine scent. The palate is medium-bodied with darker fruit than the Chaignots. Touches of black pepper and bay leaf appear towards the finish, becoming ever-spicier in the glass. Quite mercurial and, therefore, absorbing!
