Blend: 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc

92 Points Wine Enthusiast

The wine’s fulsome black fruits are packed with tannins and a spicy, smoky character. This is a solid wine, with a good future. Drink from 2025.

Winemaker Note

Chateau German shows intense color with ruby glints, brightness and great brilliance. It reveals black fruits such as blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry with toasted notes. Produced from selected plots of 40 year old vines, the nature of the sandy-gravelly soil acts as a flavor enhancer and is reflected in the minerality of this wine. 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon & 10% Cabernet Franc

About the Producer

Chateau German was the scene of important events during the French Revolution in 1789. It sheltered deputies who found refuge in the castle. The vines were planted in the 18th century on the Castillonais terrace, adjacent to the Saint-Emilion terroir and produce a red wine typical of the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellation.
