94 Points Jeb Dunnuck

The 2021 Chardonnay Bearwallow Vineyard takes on a touch more of a golden hue and has a lifted, smoky perfume of wild herbs, resinous earth, lime candy, and yellow apple. Medium to full body, with ripe, rounded texture as well as notes of chamomile, banana rind, and Mirabel plum, it’s broad and drinking well now.

Winemaker Notes

The epitome of meticulous farming is what always comes to mind first when I think of Bearwallow. This deep end Anderson Valley site has been a part of Rivers-Marie program since 2016 and enjoy its different nature from all the tiny clustered Sonoma Coast vineyards that make up the majority of their program. This bottling always has a distinctive yellow fruited character complemented by a saline and roasted nut character. Their little 1.5 acre Wente clone block has matured into one of the unique coastal Chardonnays we taste every year. A bottle worth the venture heading into these summer months!
