94 Points James Suckling

Currant, blackberry and some plum undertones, as well as floral and burnt-orange notes. Linear and firm on the palate with a medium to full body and a polished, tannic finish. Very clean and refined texture, yet displaying strength at the same time. Drink or hold.

93 Points Tim Atkin

Very much made in the modern style that Marqués de Cáceres helped to develop, this blend of Tempranillo with 10% Graciano and Mazuelo sees 50% new French oak and has plenty of depth, structure and ageing potential It's just starting to develop a balsamic undertone, but is still comparatively youthful, fresh and intense. 2020-28

92 Points Wine Enthusiast

A supple nose is loaded with ripe black-fruit aromas that accurately reflect a warm vintage. A thick palate is tannic and on the heavy side, again reflective of the year. Blackberry, plum and toast flavors remain on stage through a dry finish with simmering tannins. Drink through 2028.

92 Points Vinous

Ruby-red. Cherry, blackberry, vanilla and wood smoke on the nose; a spicy nuance builds in the glass. Smooth and broad on the palate, offering sweet dark fruit, toasty oak and floral pastille flavors and a hint of licorice. Closes long and spicy, with a repeating vanilla note and round, even tannin's that add framework. Drinking window: 2021 - 2028

Winemaker Notes:

Dark color with a hint of brick-red on the edge. Superb complexity on the nose with balsamic notes and refined oak. Full in the mouth with a depth of mature plums, sweet spice, and roasted coffee beans. Still fresh and discreetly lively, promising excellent potential for aging. Delicious and full with superb length. This Gran Reserva refreshes with the character our DO’s traditional style.
