92 Points Vinous
The 2023 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Mélanie, which comes from 70-year-old vines, has a lovely and well-defined bouquet with ebullient black plum and cassis scents, hints of crushed violet and a pinch of cracked black peppercorns. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, fleshy and plush yet with real structure and a long, harmonious finish. Superb.
90 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
With notes of dark cherries, blackberries and graphite, the 2023 Côte de Brouilly Cuvée Melanie is an impressive expression of volcanic blue stone soil. The palate reveals concentrated, sappy fruit layered with enveloping chalky tannins. Linear and focused, the wine offers moderate acidity, creating a balanced structure with a long, mineral-driven, mouthwatering finish.
Winemaker Notes
Named after Daniel's daughter, this wine comes from 70-year-old vines in a schist and granite derived soil with blue diorite on the southern slope of Mont Brouilly. Aged in old oak foudres, with a fine plum color, it has rich spicy fruit with a marked stony flavor on the finish.
