93 Points Owen Bargreen
A great wine made in a tough vintage, the 2020 ‘Staking Claim’ Chardonnay was entirely sourced from the Chehalem Mountain AVA. Beautifully textured, this comes off very clean with fresh cut lime, vanilla cream, buttered French bread and shades of banana on the palate. Don’t serve too cold to take in the outstanding range of flavors.

Some great wines were made in the Willamette Valley in a challenging 2020 vintage, and the Staking Claim is a case in point. Staking Claim's aromatic combination of green tea and popcorn drizzled with lemon butter is a winning one. Then you get flavors like lemon drop hard candies and Golden Delicious apples that are backed by juicy acidity. This gem is ready to please.
Winemaker Notes
This wine is sleek and elegant, redolent of hibiscus tea, fresh cherry, cinnamon bark, and nutmeg. These aromas are echoed on the palate and framed by finessed, fine-grained tannins.
