96 Points James Suckling
Very rich but very minerally, too, with ripe white peach, almond, lime zest and chalk aromas that lead to almost sweet, honeyed flavors that last through a lingering finish. Medium-bodied, balanced and likely to improve with more age. Drink or hold.
95 Points Decanter
Aromatic and fresh, Patterson Vineyard Chardonnay exhibits a flavour profile characteristic of the Sta Rita Hills with a notably racy acid structure and ripe fruit character. Mineral-rich undertones of the nose reveal aromas of crushed seashells and diatomaceous earth vaguely reminiscent of Mersault by comparison. A noticeable green character energises the bouquet with under-ripe harvest fruits and fresh wood sorrel stems. Green apple, Bartlett pear, and Meyer lemon on the palate are enriched by secondary flavour development of fresh cream, pastry dough, and textural richness.
94 Points Wine Enthusiast
Earthy minerality is the centerpiece of this bottling, starting with aromas of damp loam, wet clay and rainy rocks, all with citrus peel scattered atop. There's a firm grip to the palate, where crushed-rock flavors soar over a sizzling acidity and bright citrus tones.
93 Points Vinous
The 2022 Chardonnay Patterson offers an intriguing mix of high-elevation briskness with an exciting interplay of minerality and tropical leanings. White pepper, chalk, mint, citrus peel and slate all race across the palate. This taut, saline Chardonnay has quite a bit to offer. A touch of attractive reduction lingers.
93 Points Wine Spectator
This has a wonderful sense of restraint to the Fuji apple, lemon zest, dried ginger, kumquat and orange blossom flavors, with a savory thread of saline and crunchy acidity. Reveals notes of crushed rock on the firming finish. Drink now. 95 cases made.
