Region: Loire Valley, France
Varietal: Sauvignon Blanc
Franck and Betty Millet took over this estate in 1991. They definitely aren’t the oldest producer in the Loire, but they produce wines in Menetou-Salon, Pouilly-Fume, and Sancerre, and we're fans of all of them.
Menetou-Salon is just west of Sancerre, and the soils here are made up of Kimmeridgian limestone sediment, very similar to the soils found further east in Chablis. The Sauvignon Blanc the Millets produce is bright, crisp, and refreshing. While the appellation isn't currently as well-known as Sancerre, that is changing, as the style is quite similar, but the price is much lower.
