100% Cabernet Sauvignon

97 Points James Suckling

Blackberry and black cherry with some lead pencil. Medium to full body with round and juicy tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Savory and flavorful. Smoky. Just a hint of thyme and sage. Lovely velvety tannins. Drink now or hold.

93 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Ruby/plum-hued and semi-opaque, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon The Dreamer offers a beautiful, upfront perfume of red plums, black raspberries, toasted spices, sweet tobacco, and a beautiful floral character. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, puncheon fermented, and aged 32 months in 100% new French oak, it's medium-bodied, with a pure, graceful, layered mouthfeel, sweet, polished tannins, and outstanding length.

Winemaker Note

The 2022 growing season was truly special, with plenty of winter rain to fill our reservoirs, and abundant sunshine and heat through the summer months. An unusual late season rain washed the dust off the berries, starting a gentle cooling trend that set us up perfectly for the final ripening push in the Fall. We hang fruit on the vine longer than most, and the weather conditions in 2022 allowed us time to push that envelope to the limit, resulting in wines with an intense fruit expression, and a full-bodied core.

The 2022 Dreamer opens with ethereal aromas of toasted almond, plum, and ripe fig, all accented by a mineral streak of crushed granite. A delicious undercurrent of dark chocolate adds richness and intrigue to the nose, while hints of dried herbs and leather contribute a savory dimension. On the palate, lush, finely woven tannins wrap around a core of ripe red fruit, all lifted by a bright and refreshing acidity that hones all of its soft edges. The finish lingers well into the night, not so much a conclusion, but an invitation to wander deeper into one’s own dreamscape.
