ETA: Late March/Early April
95 Points Jeb Dunnuck
The ruby/magenta 2023 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain Vineyard is expressive and has a lovely wild touch with notes of sappy mountain herbs, sage oils, blackberries, fresh lavender, and wet stones. The palate is fantastic and medium to full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a long finish with notes of leather. It’s a pleasure to drink now, but will only improve as it leans into its more umami and maitake tones. Drink 2025-2040.
92 Vinous
The 2023 Pinot Noir Chehalem Mountain Vineyard is savory in the glass, mixing earth tones and sous bois with wet stone and wild strawberries. Lifted and spry, it offers crisp wild berry fruit and nuances of sour citrus guided by fresh acidity. The finish tapers off with medium length, leaving rosy inner florals and a tart, sour berry tinge.
Winemaker Notes
The wine is different than anything else with blueberry and natural vanilla (non-barrel related) elements emerged during fermentation and have remained in the wine ever since. In a cellar where there is an immense about of a diversity despite vineyards of relatively close proximity this site and bottling absolutely stand out.
