2008 Bordeaux (UPDATED 7.1)
"It did not take me long to realize that the 2008 vintage was dramatically better than I had expected. It had all the qualities that make an excellent and in some cases, a great vintage so special: exceptionally dark opaque colors, gorgeously ripe fruit, stunning purity almost across the board, great freshness (because it was a cool year), slightly higher acids than normal, and remarkable density as well as concentration. Moreover, one of the significant keys to evaluating quality is the maturity of the tannins. In 2008, the tannins are unusually velvety, even in wines that may lack concentration."
2004 Brunello Presale
We have our initial offering on the highly anticipated 04 Brunello and very, very, good 06 Rosso di Montalcino. Unfortunately we can't find any reviews yet but we do know that Wine Spectator rates the 2004 vintage 92-97 points and Parker rates all of 04 Tuscany 96 points. See the attachment for some notes. Given the track record of these producers, we expect very good scores when they are finally published. We need to turn our order in by the end of the week so if you want any of these we suggest that you order by Friday to insure the best price. All orders are subject to confirmation and a credit card # will be required to secure your order. No charges will be assessed until the wine arrives. ETA is May 2009.
