97 Points from James Suckling
This is really crazy with so much raw ginger and intensity on the palate. White pepper too. Full and layered yet lively and flavorful. Very serious.
94 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
With baked pineapples, guava and spice box notes plus a touch of cedar, the 2015 Chardonnay Edward James Estate fills the palate with powerful tropical fruit and spice flavors, supported with a lively line of freshness, and finishing long with some ginger coming through.
94 Points from Vinous
The 2015 Chardonnay Edward James Estate shows the same tropical profile it did from barrel, but over the last year the wine either seems to have become more gracious, airy and lifted in style, all of which works beautifully to play off some of the more overt elements, or the final barrel selection was more stringent than originally conceived. Exotic floral notes and white orchard fruit complement some of the richer overtones that are at the heart of the wine's personality.
The appearance of this 2015 Chardonnay from the Edward James Estate approaches opalescence with a lemon yellow hue, touched by a chlorophyllic green tint. On the nose, vivid aromas of citrus fruit and a hint of shaved ginger are accented by delicate white florals and wet river rock. Rich flavors of brioche, honeysuckle and Bosc pear ride a pure backbone of focused, crunchy acidity.
Enjoy with fresh summer salads, herbed goat cheese or grilled wild Alaskan halibut. Serve at 45-50 degrees F.
