Winemaker Notes
The aromatics are a beautiful mix of violets, dense black fruit, and chocolate. Juicy flavors of blueberry, boysenberry and blackberry jam are a nice counterpoint to the toasty oak and racy black pepper notes. The texture is full and viscous and hangs around for a long finish. Strong, muscular, massive. Words that defined Hercules when he planted two pillars astride the parting of the Strait of Gibraltar opening the old world to the new. When Matchbook set out to create a powerhouse wine, we chose to base our Pillars on the pillars of strength from the Dunnigan Hills: Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot and Teroldego.
