93 Points Vinous

Produced from vines planted two generations ago and still in barrel when tasted, the 2019 Sancerre Bourgeoisie has a sense of weight without heaviness. It offers real power and purpose and a linear finish. The fruit is reminiscent of apple strudel – all cinnamon and pastry – perhaps due to partial fermentation in barrel and time on lees. Fresh and fine.

93 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2019 Sancerre Blanc La Bourgeoise is based on old Sauvignon vines growing on flinty slopes. Fermented in oak and stainless steel and aged on the lees for about eight months, the 2019 opens with a deep and intense, concentrated and mineral-scented nose of crushed stones, iodine and deep and spicy, serious blackcurrant fruit. Full-bodied, rich, intense and fine on the palate, this is a round and firmly structured Sancerre with spicy polyphenols and a stimulating salty and piquant finish. This is a dense and mouth-filling, textural wine that I like a lot because the fruit is not up front but spicy and intense. Excellent aging potential. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork.
