97 Points from James Suckling
"Amazing aromas of decadent fruit, spice and meat. Mushrooms, too. Full body and ripe, caressing tannins that fan out on the palate. Goes on for minutes. From organically grown grapes. Better after 2021." Nov 2019

"Classic to the core, Le Ragnaie's Brunello di Montalcino lifts from the glass with a savory, layered display of forest berry, offset by smoky minerals, alpine-inspired herbs, dark soil tones, tobacco and a hint of animal musk. On the palate, silky textures flesh out across the senses with notes of ripe cherry, sweet spice, and a buzz of bright acids. The finish is long, fresh, nearly salty, incredibly satisfying, and with energy to burn as pretty red fruits, spice, and sweet inner florals linger long. This may not be a Le Ragnaie for the ages, but it sure is a wonderfully balanced and enjoyable Brunello today that will thrill lovers of Sangiovese. Drinking window: 2020-2032." Apr 2020
"This primarily hails from four parcels of Montalcino. The majority of which is the Ragnaie Estate located at the highest point of the zone. The fruit from this plot is high toned and has a true elegance. It is supplemented by estate fruit from ‘Fornace’ and ‘Loreto’ in Castelnuovo dell' Abate as well as older vines from ‘Petroso’ near the village of Montalcino.
All farming is done organically (certified). The grapes are fermented in cement without the addition of yeast and left on their skins for nearly three weeks. From here the juice is gravity fed into 25hl Slavonian vats where they gently rest for 3 years. The wines are then racked and blended and then off to bottle for an additional year of aging."
