Stemware

The Vintage Wine Shoppe is recognized by Riedel Crystal of America as one of its leading retailers in the southeastern United States. Riedel stemware is scientifically designed and shaped to enhance the aromas and tastes of wine. By matching a specific varietal wine with the right glass, the wine is allowed to reach its full aromatic potential and is presented to the palate at its very best.

We stock an assortment of Riedel's fine crystal decanters and many of the stems in these series of glasses:

Sommelier: The Sommelier series was introduced in 1973 by Claus Riedel who discovered that wine tasted different in different shaped glasses. He studied the physiological aspects of tasting and developed glasses which enhanced the qualities of different types of wine. The Sommelier glasses are 24% lead crystal and 100% handmade from bowl to base.

Vinum: Introduced by Georg Riedel in 1986, the Vinum glasses are elegant and round and the shapes are based exclusively on the characteristics of different grape varietals. The Vinum series of glasses is machine made and 24% lead crystal.

Vinum Extreme: The Extreme glasses are a recent addition to the Vinum series that are machine made and 24% crystal but have longer stems and more angular bowls.

Wine: The Wine series is a non-crystal collection of glasses in the shapes of the most popular Vinum glasses.

Ouverture: The Ouverture series is a non-crystal collection of glasses in generic shapes for all types of red and white wines that sells for only $10 per stem!
