2014 Bruno Giacosa Arneis, $20.99 ($28.99) 92JS
Giacosa has always been one of my favorite Italian producers and his Arneis this year is exceptional. I’ll serve this with appetizers and a cheese course.
2013 Neyers Chardonnay Carneros District, $29.99 ($32.99)
This wine is rich and creamy with a charming butterscotch component, and a trace
of grilled bread in the aroma. This is an awesome California Chardonnay and will be perfect for the Holidays!
2014 Pike Road Pinot Noir, $19.99 ($22.99)
90 points Wine Enthusiast. Editor’s Choice
This new sister label from Elk Cove offers 100% Willamette Valley Pinot Noir at an everyday price. Ruby red in color with aromas of ripe cherry, cola and sarsaparilla, this full-bodied and fruity wine is inviting on the palate. Lush black cherry and raspberry fruit are complemented by notes of grilled bread, dusty cocoa and green pepper. Rustic with smooth tannins that round out the finish. Fantastic!
2013 Goldeneye Pinot Noir Anderson Valley, $34.99 ($53.99)
I like this wine because it both tastes good, but it also has good acidity to match well with a range of foods. I like spicy andouille sausage stuffing with sweet cream corn and loads of dark turkey meat. The Goldeneye can handle the range of those flavors without leaving your palate exhausted.
2015 Broglia Gavi de Gavi “La Meirana”, $19.99 ($24.99)
I chose this wine because it is a good balance between the tart acidity of a Sauvignon Blanc and the creamy honey-vanilla-oak of a Chardonnay. This is a great food wine and I like a wine that complements the food without being too overpowering. The Gavi has a nice texture and is comfortably drinkable as family and friends spend a few hours at the table.
2014 Talley Vineyards Estate Chardonnay $19.99 (Reg. $29.99)
Great with a cheese plate and apps. This wonderful, all estate Chardonnay is the perfect way to start off any gathering. It is bright with lemon, pear, peach, and white flowers. It has subtle toasty oak and brioche notes, as well as great salinity and minerality. $19.99 is the best price in the country and you shouldn't miss out on this beautiful Chardonnay. 92 WE, 92 Vinous, 90 WA
2014 Talbott Logan Pinot Noir $19.99 (Reg. $27.99)
Talbott's Logan Pinot Noir is crafted from estate grown grapes from the famed Sleepy Hollow Vineyard in Santa Lucia Highlands. It is very balanced with cherry, blueberry, blackberry and cinnamon. It shows smoky vanilla from the French oak aging and is very smooth and rich with a great finish. It will be perfect with honey baked ham or turkey, as well as salmon or tuna steaks
